The Syracuse N-Series Extension

The Syracuse N-Series Extension:

A New Standard in Manual Transmission Design

The original GM Muncie four-speed defined an era of American performance. Auto Gear has continued to engineer beyond that original design, and the N-Series reflects that continued evolution — built in Syracuse, where the manual transmission began.

As part of the N-Series system, the new N-Series Extension introduces a revised housing designed to support additional features and provide clear Syracuse brand identification, while fitting the same applications builders expect.

The N-Series Extension is now in production.

N-Series Extension Features

The N-Series Extension includes the following features:

  • Increased Strength
A revised casting design provides additional rigidity and durability.

  • Left-Hand Speedometer Support
Supports left-hand speedometer drive configurations for applicable installations.

  • Optional Cylindrical Roller Bearing Output
Available for applications where a roller bearing output is specified.

  • Relocated Breather Port
For oil-seal maindrive applications, the breather port location improves tunnel clearance and accessibility.

  • Screw-Retained Reverse Shift Lever
The reverse shift lever is retained by a removable screw rather than a taper pin, simplifying service in competition environments.

Syracuse Engineering

The N-Series Extension is part of a broader effort to establish a distinct Syracuse identity — not as a reinterpretation of the original design, but as a continuation of ongoing engineering development.

The result is a gearbox that fits where expected, installs as expected, and is instantly recognizable as a Syracuse product.

Built in Syracuse

The N-Series Extension completes the N-Series system — a modern manual transmission platform engineered, machined, and produced in Syracuse.
